Master Gardeners
of Greater Kansas City educate the public on gardening topics, answer gardening
questions, and are proud contributors in their community. Some of the programs
Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City are involved in are Hotline, Speakers
Bureau, Garden Tour, Demonstration garden plots, Special Events, and Community
Projects, which include: Ronald McDonald House, Watkins Woolen Mill historic
heirloom garden, Martha LaFitte Thompson Nature Sanctuary, Harvesters, and much,
much more. Application for the next class is due on June 9.

Growing Seasons, An American Farm Family at the Beginning of the 20th
Century
This educational exhibit is a slice of American history, depicting a
distant by familiar, social experience. Johnson County Museum is
proud to be the venue for the national debut of this traveling exhibit
consisting of 24 casein
paintings, pen & ink vignettes, farm artifacts and a 40 minute DVD.

Children's Craft Classes: Beadwork, Leather Tooling, Multicultural
Costumes
The craft projects will include creating multicultural costumes and
historic dioramas as well as leather tooling and beadwork projects.
Classes for children 8 - 10 years of age will be held on Mondays in
October beginning October 1. Classes for children 5 - 7 will be
held on Wednesdays beginning October 3. The cost of the four-week
session is $15 for museum members and $20 for non-members.

Animals from the Collections of The St. Joseph Museums, Inc.
Tigers, and
leopards, and wolves, oh my! Such sights will be common as the St.
Joseph Museums, Inc., presents Animals from the Collections at the East
Hills Shopping Center, 3702 Frederick Avenue. This natural history
exhibition will include exotic specimens from African and Asian safaris
as well as large mammals and birds from the Lewis and Clark Expedition
through the Northwest.

Historic Home Tour and Halloween Art Benefit for Mount Mora Cemetery
Two day event as part of the Halloween Art Spooktacular to benefit
the Mount Mora Cemetery begins with a Patron's Party on Friday,
October 5 which will begin with a tour of the historic McCord Home
at 1901 Clay Street from 6 to 7 p.m. Following the tour of the
McCord home, guests will be welcomed at the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion
where a party will be held from 7 to 9 pm. Tickets to the
patron's party are $35 per person. The deadline for
reservations has been extended to October 2.
Festivities continue throughout the day on
Saturday at the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion including, special shopping
opportunities at Spooktacular booths, and a Witches Luncheon Tea.

Voices from Our Past: Interpretive Tours of Mount Mora Cemetery
The Friends of Moutn Mora and the St. Joseph Museums , Inc., invite you to
enjoy the "Voices From Our Past," as the stories of some of St. Joseph's
earliest and most fascinating citizens, now buried at Mount Mora Cemetery,
are told. Established in 1851, Mount Mora is the city's oldest
continually operating cemetery. Tours begin at the 1879 Wyeth-Tootle
Mansion, 11th and Charles, then board the bus to Mount Mora for a narrated
walking tour. Admission is $12 for Friends of Mount Mora and St.
Joseph Museums, Inc. members. $15 for non-members. Pre-paid
reservations are required.
