Master Gardeners
of Greater Kansas City educate the public on gardening topics, answer gardening
questions, and are proud contributors in their community. Some of the programs
Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City are involved in are Hotline, Speakers
Bureau, Garden Tour, Demonstration garden plots, Special Events, and Community
Projects, which include: Ronald McDonald House, Watkins Woolen Mill historic
heirloom garden, Martha LaFitte Thompson Nature Sanctuary, Harvesters, and much,
much more. Application for the next class is due on June 9.

Growing Seasons, An American Farm Family at the Beginning of the 20th
Century
This educational exhibit is a slice of American history, depicting a
distant by familiar, social experience. Johnson County Museum is
proud to be the venue for the national debut of this traveling exhibit
consisting of 24 casein
paintings, pen & ink vignettes, farm artifacts and a 40 minute DVD.

New Exhibits Commemorate 80th Anniversary of St. Joseph Museum
Opening of a series of exhibits dedicated to the early years of the museum
founded in 1927. The new exhibits will be open through December
during the regular museum hours.

William Jewell College - Liberty, MO Historic Architecture Tour
The William Jewell College tour will be led by Angela Stiffler, William
Jewell College Archivist. Meet in front of Gano Chapel on
the William Jewell College Quad. Highlights century-old
residences and commercial structures in Liberty's celebrated historic
district. Tour is on foot and lasts approximately one hour;
participants are reminded to wear comfortable walking shoes.

Meet at the Truman Statue on East Side of Courthouse Square Many thousands
of people embarked on to the Oregon, California and Santa Fe Trails from
Independence, Missouri. On this one-hour walking tour, you will explore
the historic Square, talk about the jumping off experience, and discuss
the methods used to commemorate this important era in United States

"Monarch Migration Across the Prairie" Day Trip
The
day will begin at the St. Joseph Museum with a PowerPoint presentation on
the Monarch butterfly and their migratory habits by Lu Cadden of the
Missouri Department of Conservation. She will also provide booklets and
handouts on butterflies, Missouri prairie flowers, and Missouri birds.
After the program, participants will board the motor coach for a trip to
the Pony Express Lake Conservation Area, which covers 3,290 acres of
forest and prairie.

The Great War: The Peace the Failed
The fourth of five forums on the impact of World War 1, each featuring a
conversation between two leading authorities and audience members
examining the legacies of the First World War and its continued relevance

St. Joseph Preservation, Inc. 2007 Annual Historic Homes Tour
Five
historic homes are featured in this years tour. In addition, a
walking tour of the Robidoux Historic District is available. Lunch
will be offered at the beautifully restored and renovated Whiskey Mansion
at 1723 Francis Street. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 during
the tour. Tickets may be purchased by mail or several downtown locations
