More than 40 free, guided hikes will take place on trails in Missouri state parks and historic sites throughout the state on Jan. 1.  The effort is a part of America’s State Parks First Day Hikes, which gives guests the opportunity to start the year of right with a healthy hike.

Two other works by Bloch—Winter, created in 1918, and Frieze for a Music Room, 1915— are also on view in the 20/21 Gallery. These two paintings, which were created while Bloch was in Germany, provide a visual contrast to Summer, allowing viewers to experience a range of the artist’s work.

The bill recognizes Liberty Memorial as a World War I memorial in a similar fashion to other nationally recognized memorials such as the National World War II Memorial and the Korean War Veterans Memorial on the National Mall in Washington D.C. The legislation provides an additional designation for the Museum, which was deemed as “America’s National World War I Museum” by Congress after President George W. Bush signed the legislation in 2004.

At James A. Garfield and First Ladies National Historic Sites, Williams has helped guide these two small parks from minimal NPS operations to more visible, more professional, and more effective Parks operations.  Creation of a strategic vision with staff and partners laid a sound foundation for the parks’ futures.

The creation of the position of CIO is one of six goals outlined in the Nelson-Atkins’ Strategic Plan. Nelson-Atkins leadership studied recent CIO positions at institutions such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Dallas Museum of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Art. The list of best practices written by the Chief Digital Officer at Harvard University was also considered.

Jolie directs and produces “Unbroken,” an epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis “Louie” Zamperini (Jack O’Connell) who survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash during World War II—only to be caught by the Japanese navy and sent to a series of prisoner-of-war camps.
