MDC to Host Waterfowl Season Workshops in the Kansas City-St. Joseph Region

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites Missouri waterfowl hunters to upcoming public workshops where MDC staff will gather hunter input about duck season dates and zone boundary locations for the 2021-2025 hunting seasons.  The workshops are free, and no reservation is necessary.

  • A waterfowl season workshop is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, in Harrisonville. The workshop will be held in the Cass County Sherriff's Department training room, 2501 West Mechanic St. For information, call 660-885-6981 or 816-622-0900.
  • MDC will hold a waterfowl season workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, in Excelsior Springs. The workshop will be held at the Lake Doniphan Conference and Retreat Center, 12856 Doniphan Lake Road. For information, call 573-815-7900.

February workshops include:

  • St. Joseph on February 18 at the  MDC Northwest Regional Office, 701 James McCarthy Drive, 816-271-3100 (Time not available)
  • Chillicothe on February 19 at the Comfort Inn and Suites, 250 E. Business 36, 816-271-3100 (Time not available)

Hunter input at workshops and hunter opinion surveys will be used to help establish Missouri's future duck season dates and zones. Participants can review long-term data about weather, migration, habitat use, and harvest.

"The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service gives states the opportunity to change the number and location of duck zones every five years," explained MDC Resource Scientist Doreen Mengel. "We're holding these meetings to get hunter input as we plan Missouri's 2021-2025 duck season dates and zones."

MDC is also holding other waterfowl season workshops throughout Missouri in the coming weeks. For a complete list of workshop dates and locations, visit https://short.mdc.mo.gov/ZmA.
